MUSICIANS FOR MOORE HURRICANE RELIEF CONCERT – NOV. 17TH NOON – MIDNIGHT

The story of this upcoming benefit concert is told by the 4 women responsible for this event.

ALL PROCEEDS TO GO TO FAMILIES IN MOORE COUNTY DISPLACED BY HURRICANE FLORENCE

Jordan Cranford – local musician/singer/actor

I came up with the idea for this benefit concert when I saw my friend Jon Rachels posting about all the damage the storm had caused and all the work he had been doing to help all the families that had been devastated by the hurricane in the Lobelia/Crain’s Creek area. It inspired me to want to do something to help, so I came up with this idea to hold a concert to help raise money to help the families in our community. I posted the idea on Facebook and within about three days I had an outpouring of support for the idea and a flood of messages from local musicians who were interested in donating their time and talent to the cause. I had the artists but I didn’t have the venue, that’s when I got a message from Nicole from Railhouse Brewery and she proposed using the Brewery for the venue. We decided to meet up and discuss logistics and that’s when Julia got involved and she already knows a lot of the local business community so the three of us got to work on finding sponsors and vendors and finalizing the artists who will be performing. It just shows what you can do when you have an idea and the
right people to bring it to life, I know there’s no way I could have done this without them, Nicole Meyer and Julia Brokmeyer are incredible and hardworking women and I feel honored to call them my friends. I’m so glad that we have been able to bring this idea to fruition to help as many people as we can, the benefit page is on Facebook under “Musicians for Moore Hurricane Relief Benefit Concert.” You can still make a monetary donation if you want to help but can’t come to the event. will be held November 17th from noon to midnight for a full day of music by local musicians.

Pamela Partis – Director of Vision4Moore

  • Vision 4 Moore is dedicated to helping those who help others in Moore County – this is a perfect example of doing just that
  • My introduction to volunteering in Moore County was to help with the Moore Friends for Mississippi effort – where Moore County adopted Bay St. Louis, Mississippi after hurricane Katrina to help them recover
  • This hurricane relief effort has the same philosophy that worked so well – ask the people affected what they need and help them get it – directly
  • Proud to be a part of this and work with these amazing women!

Nicole Meyer – Manager of Railhouse Brewery

  • Community service is something that is very important to me personally, and I have been involved in many outreach groups over the years.
  • I am currently working with Operation AWOL in Vass
  • Railhouse Brewery is very invested in the community, and is proud to be able to host an event that will help our neighbors in need

Julia Brokmeyer – Owner of Moore Choices

~ Jordan sent me a Facebook message on Friday, September 21st to let me know that the event was happening and that she was still working out the details. I immediately knew that I wanted to be a part of it. By Sunday, we were meeting in person to start talking details. I was blown away by Jordan. She came with 4 pages of typed notes on Musicians she had lined up, ideas for advertising, ideas for food trucks, etc.

~ I realized that we would need to run this through a non-profit and that’s when I offered to reach out to Pamela Partis of Vision4Moore. I have worked with her the past 2 years as one of the sponsors for her events. She brought it up to her board and they all agreed to help us and have been absolutely wonderful to work with!!

~ I’ve continued to help by soliciting sponsors. Thank you, Bill Sahadi of Fore Properties and American Roofing & Construction for being a Platinum sponsor!

About Victory Junction – Lindsay Douglass – 2018 Victory Junction Princess of N.C.

www.victoryjunction.org

Victory Junction offers a year-round camp experience for children with serious and chronic illnesses. It is located on 84 acres in Level Cross, near Randleman, NC, about a one-hour drive from Moore County.

The camp was the dream of Adam Petty, a fourth generation race car driver from the famous Petty racing family. Between races, Adam often visited children in pediatric hospitals. After his tragic death in a racing accident, his family and friends came together to realize his dream.

Victory Junction opened its gates in 2004. The camp serves children from all over the United States through its summer programming and also Family Weekends — at no cost to families.

Victory Junction is part of the Serious Fun Network, formerly known as the Hole in the Wall Gang camps, founded by the actor Paul Newman. It was Newman’s idea to create a free camp where kids could escape the fear and isolation of their medical conditions and, in his words, “raise a little hell.” Today there are over 30 of these medically-safe camps and programs around the world.

About Lindsay Douglass

Lindsay Douglass is a junior at Pinecrest High School, where she is a member of the National Honor Society, a varsity cheerleader, and a member of the Pinecrest Speech & Debate team.

Lindsay is also a former camper at Victory Junction and was appointed to be a volunteer ambassador as the Victory Junction Princess of North Carolina. The Princess of North Carolina is a statewide program sponsoring more than a dozen preliminary pageants. Its state queens support and promote Victory Junction, and to-date have raised over $300,000 for the camp.

Lindsay is the organization’s 3rd Victory Junction Princess. She is spending her year attending special events, visiting children’s hospitals, speaking to groups, and fundraising for Victory Junction.

About Kathie and Mark Parson

Kathie Parson and her husband, Mark, of Southern Pines-based Mark Wesley Parson Design, first met the Petty family through the Kyle Petty Charity Ride. It was also during one of these annual fundraising motorcycle rides that the couple discovered and fell in love with Pinehurst and Southern Pines.

Kathie served five years as marketing manager of Petty Enterprises, at their office near the Charlotte Motor Speedway. She came to regard the Petty’s as part of her extended family and was with them when Adam Petty was killed in New Hampshire during a practice run.

It was Kathie who secured the first telephone number for Victory Junction.

Mark Parson has also been actively involved with the Petty family, most recently designing the Lynda Petty Memorial Garden in Level Cross.

About Julianne and Brian Clodfelter

Julianne Clodfelter and her husband, Brian, of West End-based Rhetson Companies and Par 5 Development, believe that it is important to give back not only as a company, but as individuals. From the very beginning, they were inspired by the work of Victory Junction — even before they ever stepped foot on the grounds — and have given generously to support the camp’s programs.

Earlier this year, the Clodfelters brought their professional team to camp, serving as the general contractor for a new 6,000 square foot indoor archery range — funded through a $500,000 gift from the Smithfield Foundation — that allows campers year-round “weather proof” fun.
