The Road Less Traveled – Jessica & Jon Patella

Jessica and Jon Patella share their story as residents and working professionals in Moore County and the exciting journey they embark upon this week as they prepare to live overseas. Jessica has been a frequent & valued guest on our past shows as Moore County’s only Naturopathic physician and as a teacher at Sandhills Community College in the field of Nutrition. Jon came to Pinehurst twice since 2004; most recently as the Carolina Hotel Fine Dining Operations Manager in 2010. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People author Stephen Covey said to “begin with the end in mind”, and that’s just what the Patella’s have done and are doing. The story of their change of life plans, the sale of their Pinehurst home and their impending year abroad is brought to life in an inspirational, principled and loving conversation of commitment, consistency and resolve. You provide us with valuable insight that we trust and you give us the freedom to make the decision we feel is best for us based on the information at hand. It is rare trait and we understand it. THE SEASON FOR GIVING BACK

This week’s edition of the radio show, All Things Moore County, features special guests from our community who are committed to giving back to others in Moore County. Organized by Ken Rahal, host Bill Sahadi’s guests are as follows:

Bill Smith of Bill Smith Ford talks about this years edition of Project Santa to help supply bicycles to needy children in Moore County. Project Santa was the dream of Earl Wright. Earl’s time, resources & energy have lifted Project Santa into one of the most meaningful Christmas morning events in Moore County. The bikes are distributed on Christmas morning. The most needed bikes are those for the small children, and time is of the essence to get them donated in time so that the conditioning and repairs can be made in time for Christmas.

Marsae Stone of the Northern Moore Family Resource Center is also on hand to talk about the very good & important work her organization does for the youth in Robbins and North Moore County including the Robbins Childrens Christmas Gift Drive, the warm blanket project and the after school program to support children in their education. The Northern Moore Family Resource Center is located at P.O. Box 190, Robbins, N.C. 27325 and donations can be sent to this address.

Bob Klug of Pinehurst Area Realty & Exec. Director of The First Tee of the Sandhills, Bill Baker, share the great success of last week’s fundraiser, Bucket List, for the First Tee of the Sandhills. This mentoring program, which uses golf as a ‘hook’, is a great mentoring program for our County’s youth that instills discipline, confidence and self esteem in our growing children of many ages.

Life coach, Veronica Karaman, talks about a special event she is planning on Dec. 2nd at Penick
Village, from 1:00 – 6:00 p.m., “Creating Shots of Joy Workshop”. Her workshop is an effort to offer people a chance to leap over the emotional landminds of dealing with holiday stress or family member stress.

Moore County is a giving & generous community of unusual proportions 12 months a year, but
at this time of the year it truly is a season for giving back.
