THE GOLF CAPITAL CHORUS CELEBRATES ITS 40TH ANNIVERSARY

Golf Capital Chorus members Marty Matula and Bob Boone detail the history and stories and future of the Golf Capital Chorus as they embark on their 40th anniversary.

https://www.golfcapitalchorus.org/

In early December, 1980, five men who had previous barbershop experience gathered at the Pinecrest Inn and began what was to become the Golf Capital Chorus, a group dedicated to four part harmony singing for the pure joy of it. In 1981 they agreed to organize a local barbershop chapter of SPEBSQSA, now Barbershop Harmony Society International. On August 17, 1981 they received their official chapter charter. Every year since then they have performed an annual show designed to appeal to all residents of the Sandhills. The proceeds from these shows and other events perform all benefit local charities. The Chorus has contributed a total of $105,000 to the Sandhills Children’s Center and has donated more than $370,000 to other area family oriented charities since its founding.

A big part of the Golf Capital Chorus’ mission is to support local children’s charities.

As the Chorus has grown, it has become more widely recognized.

The Chorus presently has about 45 members. The Chorus also has quartets available to entertain your group and to help us raise money for our charities.
