KNOLLWOOD VILLAGE – MIDLAND COUNTRY CLUB – TABLE ON THE GREEN RESTAURANT

Feb. 2nd & 3rd – KNOLLWOOD VILLAGE – MIDLAND COUNTRY CLUB – TABLE ON THE GREEN RESTAURANT
Knollwood Village and Midland Country Club are two active adult golf communities located on Midland Road known for affordable living and convenient to everyday services including the First Health Regional Hospital. The communities offer residents a variety of floor plans and pricing. At Knollwood Village located in Southern Pines one can live in either a condo or townhouse ranging from a one bedroom to three bedroom with most condos priced under $100,000 or the very popular townhouse living that ranges in size from a 1350 to 1800 sq. ft. and pricing ranging from $140,000 to $175,000. At Midland Country Club which is in the Village of Pinehurst the townhouses are larger starting at 1850 sq. ft. and going to 2500 sq. ft. with prices generally from $190,000 to $240,000.

Bob Kramer the founder of Pinehurst Area Realty  (pinehurstarearealty.com) was a visionary who saw a great opportunity with both Knollwood Village and Midland Country Club. Knollwood golf course and driving range was built in the 60’s by Charles Pitts a Canadian bridge builder. Pitts had a second home in Southern Pines horse country and was friends with Billy Graham. Pitts built the 9 hole regulation Par 35 course, a lighted 9 hole Par 3 course and driving range along with 42 apartments. In 1977 Pitts decided to sell Knollwood Village and Bob Kramer began living his dream of building a community that the everyday couple could retire to and enjoy without spending an arm and a leg. Just four years later the floundering Midland Farms golf course designed by golf course architect Tom Jackson and the residential community became available for purchase and Bob again saw an opportunity to join these two sister communities together. Bob’s vision of creating active adult communities with golf, swimming and fine dining has been carried on by the family for nearly 20 years. Bob’s wife Helen has been the Matriarch and active in the business. Son Jack is a V.P. and as a licensed contractor is responsible for building nearly 90% of the homes in both communities. Jack along with his son Ryan (pinehurstarearealty.com) (click homebuilding) have built nearly 50 homes throughout the Sandhills as well. Daughter Barbara Klug is the Broker-in-charge and has carried on her father’s legacy of putting the customer first. Her desire to make the buying and selling experience professional and pleasant comes naturally.

Golf on Midland Road was once described as the Park Avenue of Golf. Although the Knollwood and Midland golf courses will never rival the great works of Donald Ross such as Pinehurst #2, Pine Needles or Mid Pines they are often said to be of equal condition with the best courses on Midland Road. Dale Briggs a native of Moore County and the Director of Golf for Knollwood and Midland for the past eight years often talks about how golf use to be and how we can fill the needs of so many Moore County golfers and families. Dale uses the phrase 9 is fine when talking about playing golf at Knollwood and Midland. knollwood-midland.com With our busy lives 9 holes sometimes works best for busy career people and their families. It’s perfect for seniors who like to walk or ride 9 holes. Both facilities are kid friendly and the Knollwood Driving Range is always filled with golfers from beginners to the seasoned veteran.

Midland Country Club has one of the “best kept secrets” in the Sandhills with the restaurant known as “Table on the Green”. Tableonthegreen.com Owned and operated by Chai and Jeab Phasukkan the menu features an American and Thai cuisine. Chai hails from Clifton, N.J. where he worked at two New York City landmarks-the world famous Tavern on the Green and the St. Regis Hotel. The moment you enter Table on the Green Chai and his wife Jaeb and the entire staff make you feel welcomed. You are guaranteed a good meal and wonderful experience.

The dream of Bob Kramer lives on in both communities and we hope you will make it a point to come see for yourself what makes Knollwood Village and Midland Country Club Midland Road’s finest active adult golf communities.
