Founded on the basic business premise of the 4 WAY TEST by Herb Taylor, who became President of Rotary International during 1954-55 , and was a businessman affiliated with Chicago based Club Aluminum Company, Rotary clubs have grown both domestically and internationally.

1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL & BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

2007-2015 – The Pinecrest High School Football Program with Head Coach Chris Metzger

Head Coach Chris Metzger is joined by three senior players, Sean Pollard, Layton Barber & Ayinde McKnight to talk about the very successful Pinecrest
program; its upcoming season, and most importantly the life lessons & foundations Coach Metzger’s programs affords his student athletes.

Pinecrest High School Football 1

Chris Metzger came to Moore County in 2007 and has turned a downtrodden program into one of the most successful in the state. His leadership is
born out of his upbringing, his faith, his passion for the game and the young men he is privileged to mentor. Chris talks about family, football,
faith, values, accountability, discipline and personal responsibility and doesn’t fail to mention “at risk” kids who have grown and prospered in his program.

Pinecrest High School Football 2

Layton, Sean & Ayinde are all well rounded student-athletes who are both articulate and responsible young men who live Coach Metzger’s message, and their parents’ message, every day.

Pinecrest High School Football 3

Although the first game of the season is a short two weeks away on Aug. 21st against Overhills, all the important foundations are being laid for these young men – not only for this game, but for the rest of their lives.

Weymouth Center for the Arts & Humanities with Abigail Dowd

Executive Director Abigail Dowd walks us through the rich history and storylines of the Weymouth Center located on E. Conn. Ave in Southern Pines. With an eye on the future and a deep reverence for its past, Dowd masterfully creates a textured conversation about the cultural center of Southern Pines. As she says, “the Boyd’s are to Southern Pines as the Tufts are to Pinehurst”. Dowd’s quiet demeanor and complete command of her material is not unlike a wise professor educating her students by painting effective word pictures. Interesting enough the show will close with a song that Abigail wrote and sings – The Silent Pines.

Her tutorial details James Boyd Sr. from 1903 and his involvement with the longleaf pine conservation program and the public park & preserve by nephew Alfred Yeomans to John & Helen Boyd Dull who were instrumental in the founding of the Southern Pines Civic Club and finally to Dowd’s portrayal of Katherine Boyd which was heartfelt and admiring. Her story & philanthropy alone would be a subject for a separate show.

Weymouth today is discussed with the Young Affiliates programs – literary programs for children, adults and students of all ages; their new concert series, the Tapas food event and important membership information.

The Weymouth Center is both a literary, cultural & entertainment center, and it’s place in our history and the public access it provides to our residents today makes it one of the most special and important parts of the fabric of Southern Pines and all that came before us.
