MAY IS FOOD ALLERGY AWARENESS MONTH

Fifteen million people in the United States have a food allergy. On average you will find two students per classroom that have food allergies. This week, our topic is food allergy awareness to commemorate food allergy awareness month. Our guest host, Calli Brielle McIntyre, is Miss Moore County’s Outstanding Teen, and a food allergy sufferer herself. Her panel includes 10 year old Xander Flowe, a homeschooled student with 8 food allergies, Tiffany Kramer, a first grade teacher at Vass-Lakeview Elementary and a mother of a child with a food allergy, and Hershal Smith, pharmacist and co-owner of The Village Apothecary. Xander is one of the most articulate and courageous young men you will ever listen to. His stories and recollections paint the most vivid word pictures about the devasting adjustments people afflicted with food allegies have to make. Together, they have an informative conversation on how people can better educate themselves on this growing occurrence. For more information on food allergies, please visit www.foodallergy.org and www.crowningpurpose.org.

This morning’s “All Things Moore County” program will be a Pinehurst Village Council Candidate Forum for the upcoming municipal elections on Tuesday, Nov. 7. The Pinehurst ballot will have eight candidates for 2 seats on the town council and 7 of those candidates are with us this morning; Claire Berggren (the only current council member) Bart Bouderaux; Judy Davis; Kevin Drum; Collett Kolinski; Myles Larsen and Tony Price.

THE ROAD TO PINEHURST – NEW BEGINNINGS

Tom & Felicita Stone started their journey to Pinehurst almost 3 years ago.

As a retired police officer in the Miami area and an avid golfer, Tom scratched an itch and came to Pinehurst to see

what all the fanfare was about in 2014. Felicita works remotely in the telecommunications industry and travels abroad extensively.

With their two children grown and out on their own the timing seemed right.

This loving couple talk about their sojourn; the bumps in the road and their experiences in finding their final landing area for a 2nd home in Pinehurst. Their observations about Pinehurst are valuable reminders to many of us who live here and call this area home.

Real Estate broker, Christian McCarthy, who assisted the Stone’s on their journey, and who lent her heart and soul to their effort, joins us to share her impressions about the Stone’s and to lend her unique take and perspective.

COMMUNITY WATCH OF PINEHURST
